Group your programs (content and/or advertising) into time slots to build your editorial rules. Go to menu => PREPARE => Time slots.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Building time slots

In this menu, you'll find your different time slot lists (i.e. a block with a duration into which you place content) with the name of the slot, its total duration and its playback mode.

Click on the Create time slots button to get started >bouton créer

A time slot groups together several contents and/or advertisements organized according to playback rules.

General settings

At the top of the page, you'll find the general settings for these rules (a.), such as :

1. Play mode

- In single play mode, each playlist (Index 1, 2, etc., in menu B) is used only once. However, if the duration of the time slot is greater than the cumulative duration of your tracks, the Fill list field takes over to fill the remaining time slot and avoid black screen.

- Or in so-called loop playback, each playback track is played as many times as necessary to reach the duration of your time slot.

2. The color code makes it easier to find your time slot in your program or time slot list menu.

3. The total duration of the slot (target duration).

If this is not equal to the cumulative duration of the tracks, plan to add fill content using the fill list field. If your target duration is less than the cumulative duration of your tracks, your time slot will not be displayed.

4. Stuffing list lets you define content that will be used to guarantee the duration of your time slot.

5. Interstitial adbreaks.

These are short advertisements inserted between your playlists. Depending on your editorial line, you can also add adbreaks between Index 1, Index 2, etc., using the ‘Add a rule to my time slot’ menu.

Time slot structure

Next, the time slot structure module (b.) lets you set the parameters (reading rules) associated with your content sources to automate your time slot.

One line = one content and/or ad = one rule (with several parameters

In this example, we already have 2 lists: index 1 and index 2.

The table names are as follows:

1. Index.

Allows you to organize the reading order of your content. You can change this order by simply clicking and dragging.

2. Mode.

Allows you to define a rule in one of 4 modes:

bouton créerrandom mode, bouton créersequential mode, bouton créermedia mode and bouton créerAd break mode.

The details of this menu are explained in the next chapter of this page.

3. Source playlist.

The content list (corresponding to the PREPARE => list menu) called for the rule.

4. Number.

The number of contents (from the chosen list) you wish to display.

5. Starting index.

This menu only applies to Sequence mode. It lets you choose the starting content for your sequence. It is relative to the number of contents in your Number section.

6. Increment.

Like the Start Index menu, the Increment menu applies exclusively to the Sequential menu. It is used to select the starting content of your sequence.

7. Ad break insert.

Finally, the Ad break insertion menu applies exclusively to the ‘Sequential’ and ‘Random’ modes. It lets you add so-called inertial ads, i.e. between the programs in your ‘Sequential’ and ‘Random’ modes. Unlike the Ad break mode, which lets you add ads between all your modes.

In this example, Index 1 is made up of 2 films separated by 'Ad break 3min' content from the Ad break Insertion parameter, then an 'Euronews Ad break' directly integrated into the Ad break mode.

Four reading modes.

To add a line to the module (i.e. a rule), click on the ‘Add a time slot rule’ mode (c.), then define its parameters.

You can choose between 4 modes:

Random mode.bouton créer

Randomly selects the organization of content in your playlist. However, you'll need to choose a list with several items to activate this mode.

Sequential mode.bouton créer

Adheres to a specific broadcast order.

The media mode.bouton créer

Respects a specific time, like a live broadcast. This mode is directly linked to the media parameters.

Ad break mode.bouton créer

Allows ads to be added directly between modes, rather than within a mode.

Once you've created your time slots, you can move on to the next step: integrate your time slots and ad breaks into your templates => Plan your templates
