Creation of a licensing contract

A Licensing Contract defines relationships between Sellers and Buyers, from commercial rules to operational ones, regarding a list of Contents.

Building a contract

Create a new contract via the button ADD NEW CONTRACT from your list of Contracts.

A Contract is always initiated by a Buyer and follow these steps:

1. Select the Seller you want to deal with. You will see in the list only Sellers you're partner with.

2. Decide which Business Model you want to propose and populate your values. Then select which Content you want to license under these conditions.

3. Add Time and Country restrictions.

  • You can give a list of countries where

    • playback is authorized: click on INCLUDE button

    • playback is not authorized: click on EXCLUDE button

4. When it's ready you can propose the deal to your Seller with the button VALIDATE.

Contract LifeCycle

All Contracts will follow the same lifecycle. Each change of status is logged in your Message Box.

Normal cycle:

  • Until the Seller validates the contract, its status is Pending.

  • When the Seller reviews it and accepts, then it moves to status Running.

  • The contract will then run until its expiration date and will get the with ‘Ended’ status.

Issues:

  • If, during the Running status, iKast detects, from data, that some operational rules are broken, then the contract will move to ‘Infringed’ status and both parts are informed about the litigation.

  • Until the Seller clears the issue, the Buyer will not be able to register any new contract on iKast.

If the Seller confirms the contract infringement, it is then canceled, and the Buyer is no more allowed to use all related content on its platform. The contract will be marked as ‘Revoked’.
